The Judicial Institute, in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Iraq, organized a workshop on Friday, 15 October 2021, on the subject of "legal guarantees".
"The workshop reviewed the issue of legal guarantees to be provided to the accused in the investigation and trial phases," said a reporter for the Media Center of the Supreme Judicial Council.
"The workshop was attended by The Red Cross mission chief Jean-Jerome Kazbianka, who delivered the speech in the presence of The Institute's Director-General Faten Mohsen Hadi," he said.
"The workshop was dedicated to the judges and prosecutors of the Baghdad Al-Rusafa and Al-Karkh appeals courts," he added.
The Judicial Institute had earlier hosted a workshop on "International Humanitarian Law and Contemporary Humanitarian Challenges in Iraq", which reviewed several topics relating to international humanitarian law, human rights and the legal guarantees to be provided to the accused in the investigation and trial phases.
