Six Months Imprisonment and Financial Fine for Convicts Smuggled and Trafficked Medicines Contrary to Law

Customs Court in central area  of Presidency of Federal  Baghdad/Rusafa Appeal Court sentenced  three convicts to six months  , financial penalty  and confiscation of a vehicle because they  had trafficked and smuggled  human medicines under fake import permit in violent to the provisions of law.

The  three convicts admitted at preliminary and judicial investigation that they traded and smuggled human medicines according to fake import permit , a reporter of the  Media Center of the Supreme Judicial Council stated.

He added that the court viewed the letter by Ministry of Health and Environment /medical center for supervision and medical researches that included direction not to bring in seized medicines as they are imported in contrary to the ministry controls . The court found that the evidences were sufficient to convict the defendants in accordance with article 194 / 1 / a of Customs Law amended by Decision 76 of 1994.
