Central Investigation Court at Presidency of Baghdad /Rusafa Federal Appeal Court ratified statements of four accused on crime of blackmailing the owner of Zayoona mall and wealthy people to force them to pay money.
The statements of four accused were ratified by competent judge after they had admitted to alleging being affiliated with popular mobilization commission . They alleged that money that was allocated ,were donations for families of martyrs of popular mobilization and to support military operations such as buying food and other materials. They threatened them target their palaces of business and homes , in case of non-payment, a statement of the Media Center of the Supreme Judicial Council said.
The convicts were arrested by the security directorate of popular mobilization commission based on complaint by the owner of Zayoona mall following asking him to pay five million dinars monthly to support families of martyrs and injuries. Then , they asked him to pay three billion dinars . if he did not pay , the mall would be targeted and burnt , the statement added
The court ratified their statements in accordance with article (4th/1) of Anti-Terrorism Act No. 13 of 2005.
