Judicial Development Institute hosted a panel discussion entitled " achievement justice to reduce domestic violence crimes" it was attended by a number of judges and specialists in this field from Iraqi Al-Amal Association, Women Empowering Department at Secretariat General of Council of Ministers and Department of Domestic Violence at Ministry of Interior. They submitted their agenda for this issue.
The session was opened by a word of the supervisor of the Media Center of the Supreme Judicial Council , judge Haider Ali Noori who revealed the importance of the content of the session related to domestic violence crimes and the role of the judiciary, the reporter of the Media Center of the Supreme Judicial Council stated.
After the supervisor's word, the Association of Iraqi Women Judges gave a word. Then the session topics started with a statement of society attribution campaign to pass anti-domestic violence law and presented the effort of the government to implement the plans and o policies to limit the domestic violence and work paper included the abilities and challenges to reducing it and to reactive the international mechanisms of human rights in Iraqi legal system. In the session, two films were presented. The first one indicated the society attribution campaign to reduce the domestic violence and the second referred to high rate of the domestic violence crimes during COVID-19. At the end of the panel discussion, it was agreed to invite Iraqi lawmakers to pass domestic violence law that in line with international agreements, principles of human rights, effective laws and current traditions and norms.
