Chief justice of Dhi Qar Federal Appeal Court receives Director of Office of Human Rights in Iraq

Chief justice of Dhi Qar Federal Appeal Court judge Mohammad Haider Hussein received Director of the Office of Human Rights- United Nations Ms. Daniella Bale. Topics related to human rights and guarantees provided by law to protect an accused when he /she is arrested and investigate with him/her were discussed during the meeting.

Both parties discussed the cases regarding the protesters and the chief justice stressed that they exceeded 1200 cases. He added the panel competent in considering these cases has been continued in investigative actions according to law but it restricts to the article(111) of Criminal Procedure of Internal Security Forces Code No. (17) of 2008 stipulated that the policeman shall not be notified or summoned or arrested unless the minister or who is authorized approves when the action is committed during his duty, the reporter of the Media Center of the Supreme Judicial Council said.

The chief justice emphasized that all peaceful protesters were released. However, the cases of those who were found evidence against them were referred to trial courts to be sentenced fairly and to guarantee the rights of all litigants.
