The President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Dr. Faiq Zidan, received on Monday, 7.6.2021, in the presence of the Head of Judicial Supervision Commission, Judge Musallam Mutaib Mudb, representatives of the coordination of October demonstrations, assuring them that the right to peaceful demonstration is guaranteed under the provisions of the Constitution and the requests and observations of a representative were heard. It was emphasized to the investigative bodies of the need to quickly resolve the cases of killing protesters and the attacks and directing all the Federal Appeal Courts to follow up on those cases, as well as the speedy resolution of cases of financial and administrative corruption as well a need to continue communication with the demonstrators to clarify their problems and to verify the information received from the investigative authorities.
The President of the Council also confirmed that Rusafa Investigation Court has begun to conduct a fundamental investigation into the incident of killing demonstrators in demonstrations on 25.5.2021 and follow up the investigative procedures in that case to determine the direct responsibility for the accident. The President of the Council also confirmed that the judiciary deals with the evidence presented in every case in terms of its sufficiency to convict or not. It is not possible to issue any judicial decision without relying on legally considered evidence, far from any interference in the work of the judiciary from any side.
