Supreme Iraqi Criminal Tribunal of the Presidency of Baghdad /Rusafa Appeal Court sentenced a convicted to life in prison for his participation in assassination of Iraqi opponent Talib al-Suheil in Beirut in 1994.
During the investigation, the convicted admitted to taking part in the assassination. His role was to hide the weapons that were used to carry out the process in the Lebanese capital, Beirut ,The statement of the Media Center of the Supreme Judicial Council reported.
The statement added that the convicted was an Iraqi consul in Beirut as well as an officer of the former Intelligence Service that was responsible for this process. He also mentioned the details and how it was performed.
The court found that the evidences were sufficient to convict the accused in accordance with articles 15/12 of Supreme Criminal Tribunal Act.
